Democracy and Liberties Island in the New Era
With the transformation of Yassıada to the Democracy and Liberties Island, another dimension and meaning is attributed to the island which for the past sixty years was remembered by the grim memories of trial courts held for the Democrat Party government.
The island was officially renamed as the Democracy and Liberties Island in 2013 and reconstruction works started in 2015. In 2021 the transformation of the island was completed in all senses and the Democracy and Liberties Island is now an highly appealing center for cultural and tourism activities.
